Love the teachers, the classes, and the environment. Only problem I had is that they don’t enforce the prevention of bullying and in-school violence as well as possible. Otherwise, their sports and arts programs are some of the top in the State and the overall experience here is awesome!
During my time in the Quincy Public School District No. 172 we had a lot of changes. I learned to adjust to change at a young age. Our whole system of buildings and schools shifted and became different so it was different adjusting to the different ages at different schools. This happened my senior year of high school which was major for me because leading up to my senior year I entered the high school my sophomore year but my senior year freshman moved to the high school. There were a lot of suicide attempts and actually 2 suicides during my high school years. I felt that the school district did a VERY good job when it came to breaking the news to their students. They also provided plenty of resources so that any students struggling with loss or struggling with suicidal thoughts could talk to someone. Considering the crime rate in Quincy IL, I always felt safe within the walls of Quincy Public Schools. I am very grateful for that.
QHS has really great class diversity, with lots of different options such as vocational classes, honors/grade-weighted/AP classes, and an excellent performing arts program. Teachers are either some of the best or some of the worst, and students vary in the same way. I have met some of the best people here, and some of the worst. Biggest problem with the school is administration, a lot of the time it feels like unless you are in theater or sports, they don't care much about you and your future.
