Enjoyed the atmosphere and the help that guidance counselors and administration offered when applying to college. Need improvement on facilities, technology, food choice, sports. Technology is not up to date causing students to lack the use of technology experiences. The lunch food isn't all that great causing majority of students to go without food. Sports programs are not excelling but recently got a new football coach and are showing great improvement. School safety is lacking but are making slow improvements.

Putnam County School District does a fabulous job with the limited amount of resources it has, being one of the poorest counties in Florida. The teachers in our area truly care about their students and want to see them succeed, many going above and beyond to make that happen!
While certain schools have great programs (Interlachen High's band or Palatka High's Theater), the school district does not emphasize success for those that deserve it. The athletics are lackluster and the education is nearly worthless. Administration seems more concerned about looking good for ratings than it does for learning as they encourage teachers to doctor bad grades and are reluctant to push intelligent students forward. In my experience, the Cambridge magnet school program for the "smart" kids is the most notorious for this. The only good thing about this school is St. John's State College offering dual enrollment classes to some high school students. I would not recommend this school district --- or county--- to anyone.
