Growing up in the Pullman School District was one of the biggest blessings of living where I lived; the schools knew what to do when educating youth, but they may have been too homework heavy. The schools in this area are phenomenal. We are rated as some of the top schools in Washington, and Washington's education is already top-rated in the country. The teachers are excellent, the classes well-structured and informative, and the environment is safe and warm. However, because this school wanted the students to achieve incredible academic excellence there was an overload of homework in many classes. The school could benefit from working with what motivates the students to learn, study, and grow. Overall, these schools are a cut above the rest because of their excellent, education, teachers, and environment.
I enjoy the community of Pullman High Schools and the teachers are incredible. The teachers are wonderful about working with the students based on what they need individually. At times the administration would not listen to concerns of the students about certain teachers or bullying problems. I personally had a situation where I was being harassed and badmouthed by an ex-boyfriend. I had broken up with him and he began to spread rumors about me and my best friend and the administration barely did anything about it. They refused to help me switch my schedule and he only got off with a "warning". All that being said, in my 4 years at PHS, that is the only problem I've ever really had with the staff.
Pullman Public schools are very nice, they do need some work on the maintenance of the schools and the capacity levels. Overall the schools are pretty good. Because it is a small town, students get to see their teachers outside of the schools such as at the store, or in one of the many parks, or even at a restaurant.
