Portsmouth is very welcoming school. As someone who has been to 3 different schools in the area, I’ve never felt more welcomed or like a belong than I have at Portsmouth. The only issues I’ve ever had with Portsmouth is a teacher here and there but majority of my teachers have provided a learning experience like no other. Portsmouth isn’t necessarily in the greatest part of town but with that being said, I have never felt unsafe being at school or walking around. We have a very nice athletic complex and fantastic coaches. The food isn’t the greatest but it’s free and they make sure that everyone eats at least breakfast and lunch, if you don’t have access to food at home the school is known for giving sack lunches to those in need. Portsmouth has given me friendships that will last a lifetime, once a Trojan always a Trojan.
I have attended Portsmouth City Schools from Kindergarten all the way up to my Senior year and my experience with the school district is mostly positive aside from a few personal nitpicks I have. The teachers are all amazing and well devoted to their classes and most students that attend the schools are great people. The only big issue I have with the school is the area.
I have gone to Portsmouth High School my entire life. I have been prepared for the outside world through my challenging classes and teachers. I have been accepted to The Ohio State University and I would like to thank my teachers and coaches at Portsmouth High School for pushing me to be my best and preparing me for the real world. I have been active in extracurricular activities at Portsmouth High School in different clubs and being captain of sports teams.I have developed a good work ethic and good habits through Portsmouth High school in sports and in the classroom. A good balance between the two has helped me become the person I am today, by helping me communicate with people, learning discipline, and how to balance time. I cannot thank Portsmouth High School enough.
