I think overall portage township schools are very good. They are very aware of safety and take many precautions to prevent anything from happening. But there are also a few things that I would change such as the food, the food is not very good or healthy! I think there could be menu changes and rules set in place to help portage with the issue. Also the actions they tale against bullying I think should be better handled! There is little to almost nothing done when bullying is happening and I think that should be changed not only in the portage school system but every school system!

The school board is the biggest problem, people who have never really been in our schools get to decide what policies are put into effect. Another thing is that Portage doesn’t don’t update amenities until it’s too late. The auditorium wasn’t gonna be completely renovated, for the next 10 years at least. When it was long overdue, just like the pool should’ve been fixed years ago. Instead they focus on Football and trying to be the technologically advanced school system it claims to be. Lastly they find any and every reason to fire teachers on the spot. We’ve had more than 10 teachers fired, let go, or forced to retire in the years that I have went there. It’s not the best school. But it’s not the absolute worst.
Portage is a fairly large school district. It has 8 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, and a large high school. There are many opportunities at portage for sports players, musicians, nerds, geeks, and thespians. Portage has an amazing music program including 5 choirs, 3 orchestras, 4 concert bands, 2 jazz bands, and many small ensembles which meet after school. The theatre program is large and puts on around 4 shows a year including a school variety show. There are many sports opportunities at portage including Football, Basketball, Soccer, tennis, golf, bowling, and gymnastics. Portage has amazing sports facilities including a new turf as of 3 years ago. Portage also has a robotics team which competes in Worlds Competition. Overall portage has many activities and opportunities to everyone and anyone.
