I can honestly say that Point Beach High School prepared me for college! The high school offered many AP as well as dual enrollment classes! Teachers are great and the school is in a wonderful location. Located in the downtown of Point Pleasant Beach, a small town filled with quaint little stores as well as wonderful eateries. We are within walking distance to it all, can't forget we can walk to the beach! I love the fact that our school is small and most of the students went to the same elementary school together. I met my best friends when I was in the first grade. I feel extremely safe in the school as well as my community. We are a small school but to me, we are one big family.
Point beach is a very small school but the resources, teachers and opportunities make it a great school. Since Beach is such a small school the teachers and administration really get to know you and how you learn the best and are able to really help. They also have a very good after school work program where all teachers are available after school 3-4 days a week. Practice for all sports do not start until 3:30 so all student-athletes can go to after school help whenever they need it. Another benefit of the school being as small as it is the fact that every one is able to make any sports team. You may think that would mean that Point Beach is not very good at sports but our sports teams are very competitive and have won many championships. Lastly, all the students at Beach are very inclusive and don't have anyone feel secluded.
Point pleasant beach high school was at one point a place that felt comfortable to me. Until I graduated, and realized just how much of a blind eye the school turns. When I was a student, I underwent a traumatic situation and visibly shut down for the majority of my senior year. Now, coming to terms with what happened it should have been visible from a teacher's point of view, or especially a guidance counselor to check in. They also have a history with turning the other cheek when it comes to addressing the students who are blatantly racist, sexist, misogynistic, etc. and will post whatever they want knowing they can and will get away with it. It does provide good education, but not the comfort needed in mental health.
