The Pleasant Valley Community School District is generally a decorated district academically, especially in comparison with other local districts. Students flourish in rigorous programs and challenging work environment, and they are enabled to thrive in secondary education. Pleasant Valley High School is nationally recognized as a Blue Ribbon School for its student success, however, the student body is quite divided politically, morally, and socially, creating vast disparity of student belonging.
Diversity is preached, but the unchecked actions of some students negate that goal. Many high schoolers have been discriminated against, ostracized, and bullied by their classmates for race, sexual orientation, political affiliation, and more. While I truly appreciated my academic experiences at PV, there is room to grow for the future of district-wide peer respect.

PV is a wonderful school district academically, offering many courses and things that will prepare students for college.
However, it's a very sport-centered district (especially the middle school) and it is oftentimes proven that they care more about sports than any other club or activity.
PV has many positive things, but they tend to focus on those and not even try to make the negative things better.
For example, many of the students are diverse, but many other students lack respect for those students. There are students that are a part of the LGBTQ community who don't feel safe sometimes at school because of all the students who are ignorant and say stupid things. Half the students are just ignorant, and they don't mean what they say, but more know what they're saying and don't care. Also, the student body is prematurely white and privileged, causing some underlying racism that isn't obvious to many students.

There are few school districts as good as Pleasant Valley's. The teachers care, the student body is surprisingly diverse, and the academics are challenging. The only reason I would not give my school 5 stars comes from my experience during the Coronavirus pandemic, where it became painfully clear that this school cares more for its athletic department than it does for the health and safety of its students.
