Plainfield is a very pretentious school where honors classes and such are heavily pushed. The stress and workload put upon students is unbelievable and the manner in which students are punished for circumstances that they often can't control aren't right. Many people, especially this year and given the circumstances of the pandemic, are struggling to keep their grades up because there aren't proper procedures put into place for those that cannot regularly attend be it no fault of their own.
While Plainfield High School has good intentions about improving student life, these changes are sometimes unprecedented and introduced without student approval. In addition, while the student punishments are often thorough, the generalization of certain infractions (satirical social media post compared to a school shooting threat) create an unfair verdict for many students who don't have any bad intentions. However, there are a multitude of activities to be involved in, teachers who care about their students, and a relaxed environment as opposed to other schools that carry a tense atmosphere. In overall terms, there is work to do, but the work that has been done is executed well.
Plainfield High School has really excelled in making the students a priority. The courses they offer helps prepare a student for life after high school. They provide a variety course paths for students know what they want to do as their career. For example, I am interested in engineering and currently on a Technical Honors diploma track. The student body is well diverse and culture is safe and encouraged. I have truly enjoyed my experience at the high school. In addition, the school's extra curricular activities are award winning and all is encouraged to join. I am currently on the "We the People" team and looking forward to my first competition. I have also been a part of the robotics team.
