I love that Pickens County go above and beyond to make their students and staff members feel welcome, safe, and comfortable Pickens County staff and students have some of the most outstanding attitudes, and personalities to make anyone feel welcome. The teachers are always checking on students and making sure their home life is safe as well.
High school teachers saw everything and was there for it all. The good, bad, tragic and lazy times in our lives. They always had our backs and we could count on them at any times. Friday nights under the lights was so much more than football. It was where our community came together like family, united and cheered for out team win or lose. Sports running my body in 500 degree weather doing sprints. My coaches were very supportive and always there for me. My overall experience in High school was amazing!
The overall setting of the small county schools is very attractive to us for the purpose of having individualized experiences. The career center is the main reason for loving pickens county schools the most. This part of the school systems has allowed for skills training as well intellectual growth. I feel that learning a trade skill is crucial in life as an adult. The only thing that has been upsetting is the political aspect of the sports programs. Daniel recruits players to come in taking the local childrens place in a sport. Thats is just wrong. Fame and fortune also have a lot to do with whether a child plays in a sport. These kind of things do not teach or instill values in children. So overall I am happy with pickens county and the operation of the school system even with the pandemic and the ever changing schedules and rules. I feel that my children have done well with pickens county and have no regrets.
