Just this year, my school district came out with a new catchphrase, “This Is Who We Are”. The first day of school, they addressed ongoing social issues through the announcements and I was blown away by their initiative. They addresses gun violence in schools and assured us that we are a family and are safe on campus. I have never heard of schools being so vocal about social issues, which is why I am proud to be apart of this school district. I am also a DECA student, and my school district is the only one in Arizona that covers 100% of our expenses for competition.

My experience being a high school student in the Phoenix Union district is average. I enjoy learning but most of the time it can be stressful when I’m not in a quiet environment. My school is the exact opposite of quiet. It’s loud and joyful which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. There are many things that could be approved at each high school campus. The school lunches need major improvement. Although school lunches are free, they still should taste good. The clubs should be more entertaining. We don’t have any cool clubs. Students would be a lot more involved if there was more exciting activities to take part in.
Our children have thrived in their respective classes, have made lifelong friends and developed strong bonds with their teachers. St Ignatius is a small, tight knit community that provides a well-rounded education in a fun and faith filled environment for students. From sports to Girl Scouts, our children have been immersed in the extra-curricular activities that are offered, such as the Chess and Robotics clubs. We love the fact that our children are building a strong foundation in the Catholic faith that encourages them to be strong followers of God.
