It is a great high school for people who are looking for a career based learning. It is focused and gives you the tools you would need to get started in your field of choice. It does have its downside at being very intense but if that is what you are looking for then that’s great for you. It has some of the best teachers I’ve ever had my whole schooling experience so far, and they provide you with plenty of resources to better your learning experience!
At first, I was hesitant on applying to PCTI because of the amount of expectations and reputations students are expected to uphold. Being a resident of West Milford, it was even more concerning that I had to travel such a far distance to attend a high school, when I can just as easily attend my local district. However, I knew that PCTI's ability to provide me the education based on the field I was interested in going into was very important in bettering my chances of being accepted to four year universities. While Tech is an amazing high school, I did have some troubles in freshman year, and still a year later. I left my district middle school with great grades, a high GPA and lots of experience with honors classes. When I started school at Tech I found myself to constantly be falling behind during lectures in class. Thankfully, I was surrounded by tons of friends and teachers that are willing to help me, and since then, I've seen a great incline of my GPA and desire to learn.
I'll be graduating this year. My experience at PCTVS was full of learning new things, preparing for college, and meeting friends that helped me a lot throughout my 4 years. Diversity on campus is great; that's the thing about having so many people from so many different towns attend one campus. Teachers are extremely approachable and able to help, same with counselors; never had an issue with them. Administration is a bit strict but as long as you're not in the way you're fine. My shop definitely played a big part in helping me find what I want to do in life, even if it helps you realize that that field of study isn't for you; you get an idea eventually.
