I have spent all of my academic years with PCSD. Before my freshman year, I considered going to Padua. I am so beyond thankful that I decided not to go. I believe that PCSD gave me the best opportunities for success. Participation in the College Credit Plus program was highly encouraged. Scholarships were also available. I took advantage of both of these opportunities and they have saved me so much money for college. Not only this, but I feel more than prepared for college level academics. Many like to look down on PCSD but they are the ones who do not seize every opportunity given to them and do not give academics their all. I am very thankful for all PCSD has done to get me ready for college in the fall.
Love it here! All of the teachers actually teach! They make me want to come to school. All schools have their flaws. But the school district does their best to provide us (the students) with the best materials so we are able to learn. Ive been in the district a little bit over 11 years, and I have never had a serious issue. The school has had issues about where the money should be directed for what programs over the years but I believe that they have improved with this. The schools provides each student with a labtop that we are able to bring home and even keep over the summer. For sports there is no longer and fee to play, which is a huge deal to families that previously could not afford to pay the fee for their child to play. Overall the district has done their best.
It was a pretty average school experience. There were some amazing teachers that really pushed and encouraged the students, and others who did not care what the students did one way or the other. Some of the staff were amazing, but the school did go through like 3-4 different principles while I was attending. I do know they were having issues with money and staffing, so it's understandable why some of the staff were on edge. However, some of them were just horrible people. Depending on the class you took, you either learned without even feeling like you were learning (that's how amazing they were) or they were completely horrible with no motivation to get through the rest of the year. The administration made it very hard to like them while I was attending, hopefully they can fix that. Overall, if it wasn't for the teacher and staff that were amazing, many students may have dropped out or gave up by the end of 10th grade.
