I have had many amazing teachers and experiences as a student at Parkway! I appreciate their student-first approach in everything that they do, and I’m constantly inspired by all of the time and dedication that my teachers put into teaching. I'm a huge proponent of their choice programs and cadet teaching experiences; l've benefited greatly from getting to personalize my education and build meaningful connections with the Parkway community. That being said, I have noticed that high school teachers are losing some of their plan time, which I found frustrating. My educational journey would not be the same without my teachers having the time to prepare each day and maintain a consistent work-life balance. I care a lot about the community and family that Parkway is, so I will advocate for my teachers the same way that they advocated for me. Overall, in addition to making lifelong friends and connections, I have grown to see the true value hard work in my life from Parkway!
I went to Parkway West Middle and High School, and graduated in 2021. I had a great experience at both institutions. The environment was diverse, accepting, and overall quite friendly. There were a multitude of programs and services catering to every type of student. Extracurriculars and non-academic courses were highly encouraged; Varieties of arts, music, sports, photography and so much more offered alongside effective academic classes. West High also provided AP and college prep courses, making the transition into college much smoother. The faculty showed genuine care for the students- I loved so many of my teachers and will never forget them! Lastly, I made some pretty amazing friends over the years who I am still in contact with. I am so grateful to have attended Parkway West!
Parkway, at least Parkway West High School, has great and caring teachers who are genuinely passionate to see students succeed. Many of these teachers are relatively more accredited than teachers of other districts. However, I wish the district spent more money on maintaining the building, making sure there isn’t mold in the classrooms. Additionally, while there is a wide amount of AP selections already available to students, the schedules were more open to change. I had to sign up for many online classes because while they were available through the school, they just did not fit into my schedule. Thus, maybe the district should try offering multiple courses and hire more teachers to teach those courses, instead of allocation money to renovate, architecturally speaking, a building that already has a great structure. In terms of the environment the school fosters, students at Parkway West High School are quite caring and nice, as well as amicable to most of their peers!
