I love the Palmyra R-1 school district! the community is great; it feels like a big family. The school is very safe having a resource officer that looks over the buildings. The school has always had a lot of academic success with great teachers that put their students first. There is a multitude of clubs and activities to do for it being such a little community. Organizations such as FCA that allows students to be themselves. Some of the facilities have been newly renovated with a new football field being finished this past fall. With that being said we put a lot of time and effort into not only our academics, but also our sports. We have gone to state in multiple sports, including tennis, track, and softball. Palmyra R-1 is a great school to be a part of!
My experience at Palmyra High School was excellent. Staff and factuality are very helpful and sensible. No matter what I knew if I had a problem, there would be someone to help me resolve it. Also Palmyra offers dual credit classes which I took part in. These specific course aloud me to experience what a college class and setting was like before even graduating. Palmyra R-1 School Districts' sports program makes Palmyra come together has a whole city. I was a cheerleader all 4 years of high school and I can tell you personally that Friday night lights is a feeling I will never forget, especially being on the Palmyra High School football field. Overall I would recommend everyone to send there kids to Palmyra in order to obtain a great schooling experience.
I believe that the Palmyra R-1 School District values it’s students and faculty. We are a school with about 350-400 students and we always come together in times of need. For example, this year a freshman had to have extreme spinal surgery, so at the football game everyone wore red because it was his favorite color. The dance and cheer team wore red shirts while they performed and the student section wore all the red they could. The freshman ended up passing away and that was one of the hardest things to come from the intercom. The school brought in counselors for anyone you needed to speak their thoughts and feelings. This school has so many opportunities to get college dual credit classes and receive A+ hours. I personally will end high school with seven college classes finished. I would change the amount of money each sport receives and make sure that each sport gets recognized.
