Orono Public School District Reviews

Living up to its nickname, Orono the 'public private school' is very dedicated to preparing their students for college and life beyond college. The teachers at Orono Public Schools are willing to go the extra mile to make sure that their students are reaching their maximum potential. These teachers work hard for their students. They come in early, stay late, and help students during passing time. The core subjects, english, math, science, social studies, and world languages have strong and innovative departments with equally strong teachers and leaders.
However, there is always room for improvement. The electives program has potential for growth. The visual arts classes are very simple. To participate in this class the student has to pay a fee for basic art supplies like a sketch book, pencils, erasers, and more. These fundamental things are objects that most students have. So, to have pay tuition at a public school turns a lot of potential students away.

My time at Orono was great. From athletics to administration, Orono provides an excellent education. I played varsity basketball for 4 years, and the athletic culture of Orono permeates the school, so as a player on a sports team you really feel the entire school's support behind you. Off the court, the academic experience at Orono was awesome. With so many brilliant teachers and engaging classes, it was a time of great growth for me intellectually, and I was well-prepared for college once I graduated.
Orono schools is very well known for academics. It emphasizes on character, but of course that does not mean there are no cliques or annoying attitudes. There are many opportunities in activities as well as creating your own in high school. There are also always administrative difficulties with being efficient, but overall a quality school with all buildings accessible within a block.
