I feel very fortunate to live in the OP District. They are ahead on technology and have laptops for every student, smart boards and an innovative teaching staff. 1 of my 4 children has HFASD and the District has been fantastic with providing services. The special ed department has been great! 13 years of having a child in the district so far and we have few complaints. Middle School could do a better job with discipline of troubled students. The High School is huge but manages it well with House system. Great PTO support and great music department.
Orchard Park provided me with a great education in terms of a public school and genuinely prepared me for college. Unfortunately, the lack of diversity and tolerance made my high school career less ideal. Hearing my fellow classmates speak out against the racism or discrimination they had faced going through this school system makes me sick. My only hope is that the peaceful protesting of this behavior within the community will change the course of this issue. A petition was formed due to the severity of this issue throughout my suburban town. I hope to see a societal change where I am from and for all people to be treated equally and accepted.
Everyone in the district is helpful and educated. The students are extraordinarily kind and create bonds that will last a lifetime. There are many course options to provide students with a solid background prior to entering either college or the workforce. The school is equipped with new technology to provide students with all the skills for success. There are many school events that all students get involved in which bring about lots of fun and camaraderie. Overall, Orchard Park School District allows students to flourish and create a solid core for whatever they choose to do with their lives.
