I have been in the Onslow County district for eight years. What I enjoyed most about it was the wide and diverse range of electives. Students who struggled in classes could easily find tutoring. In fact, most teachers had time set aside to assist students for tutoring. Students grouped easily into friend groups. Most friend groups were very welcoming to the point that new students were almost immediately welcomed into one. If I could change one thing, it would be more culture awareness. Many schools within the district consists of small towns. I would have liked for there to be more global studies and culture lessons.

I went through the Onslow County School Systems since 8th, I am a senior now. My 8th grade year at JCMS was awful. I didn’t want to even go to school. I went into high school and loved it though! Northside is a very great school.
I enjoyed the efforts to create a positive environment, and in a lot of cases it worked as intended, however, there was a large misunderstanding between the administration and the cause of poor student morale. There also seemed to be a very obvious imbalance in the importance of the different school programs to the administration, the art and performance-based programs being largely underfunded and heavily lacked in support from the rest of the school.
