For as large of a district it is, I feel that it is overall very united. After many worldwide and local struggles, the district was able to bounce back and allow for students to have a positive experience! After being in the district for all twelve years of schooling, I couldn't leave any happier. I genuinely could not have asked for a better experience, and I am very satisfied with my time there!
The school district overall fulfills its mission statement of facilitating the maximum learning for every student. With countless programs to aid in student education, as well as a myriad of ways to get involved in the community, very few districts can match the quality that Olentangy Schools provide. The schools offer rigorous courses that aid in the college preparation process, as well as great teachers who have helped myself and many others successfully prepare for life after high school. Beyond education, the district also does an excellent job in ensuring student wellbeing with mental health programs and surveys to understand the thoughts of students. Overall my experience in the school district was superb and I believe I am prepared for the future thanks to them.
I enjoyed that my teachers push me to a very high potential it helped me grow to the person I am today. I was always placed in the gifted classes from the start but slowly moved back to the average classes. My teachers saw a passion in me for math and science and helped me continue to become ahead and enjoy all of those classes they had to offer. However in olentangy you have to reach these goals that are unneeded that they make you believe is necessary. This can include AP, honors classes, college credit. How these are definitely good, students tend to fill up their schedule with APs and overbook themselves. This happens quite a bit because teachers and staff always try to push more on the students. It’s good to an extent. Students must learn how to control there schedule and take classes that really interest them! It helps them learn how to become a young adult!
