Old Saybrook School District Reviews
OSHS is the definition of fine. There is nothing great about it but nothing so awful that you shouldn't go. Academically speaking, their students are consistently getting into good school but I feel that it is not due to the school but to student's own talents.
Great administration and supportive student body. Tons of opportunities for extracurriculars and sports. Coaches are very supportive of students' academic needs while fostering a healthy competitive environment for athletes. Guidance counselors are especially helpful with college applications and college readiness. Teachers are helpful and available for students to learn more when struggling.
I loved elementary school. Couldn't ask for a better place for kids. The middle school is big, but they do a good job of keeping all the children separate in their age groups. The high school's administration (principal in particular) is not the best. Old Saybrook is a very safe community with wonderful families and children, however the principal treats the children like a threat/criminal. Hopefully this will change in the near future with input from families and students. Otherwise, Old Saybrook schools are wonderful and top of the line for public schools.
