My experience at Oberlin requires many words. As I love the diversity and inclusion it offered, there are still many faults to it. As it is not funded well compared to neighboring schools, it lacks many common and necessary materials. I would hope in the future to up the funding for the students and teachers needs. Also the upcoming students were very difficult to be controlled by the teachers, sometimes it seems that there was not much discipline there for those who need it. I sometimes did not want to go to this school due to the things it lacks, like basic hygiene and the surrounding people. As it was the best communal option for me, I have stayed all 4 years, but there are definitely some improvement that’s can be made. I have made many friends and memories along the way here, but I just wish there was more the city could do to provide aid and control as the Elementary school was completely redone, as the high school received nothing.
Oberlin School District helped to prepare me for college, while not soley making the entire high school experience about testing and requirements.
My favorite thing about Oberlin is the diversity and the closeness to Oberlin College. These characteristics create so many great opportunities that every student should take advantage of. While the sports aren't the best, the school definitely has school spirit, and the presence of some of the amazing teachers 100% outweigh the not-so-good ones.
