I loved the experience and the challenges that came with Oak Park High School. I took several AP courses and worked very hard through my high school years, but I feel I am ready for College and for life. Processing my years at Oak Park and the dedication I put into my studies have been worth all the stress, hard work, and dedication as I am not only ready to move on to college, but I am motivated to succeed! Applying to colleges was scary as I didn't know if I would get in to the tough schools that I applied for, and it turned out that I got into 10 out of the 12. Oak Park High School helped me not only to succeed but also to become a leader with my peers.

OPUSD is essentially a dead-man walking school district. It relies on the "District of Choice" program to stay open. Without DoC, the school system is probably not financially viable.

Teachers are OK, nothing special. Administration is horrible. This place hires most of its administrators into positions they have never had experience with. Consequently, from the Superintendent to the MS and HS Principals, you have inexperienced and generally incompetent administration.

My experience is that a lot of the OPUSD employees are there because they are trying to avoid more challenging student populations or other lines of work. Most are not dedicated educators of any sort.

Think "emperor's new clothes" when you think of OPUSD.
Oak Park Unified School District is amazing for academics. The classes are rigorous and make you spend a large amount of time working outside of class. Students who want to score great grades and move on to a great college will appreciate Oak Park. However, students who fall behind in school will get frustrated at the difficulty the schools impose. The schools have pleasant environments that allow students to know each other well. One of the downsides of the district is its lack of activities and sports. When students look back on their time at the Oak Park Unified School District they will not reminisce over the clubs and sports games because they are very lackluster.
