I liked Oak Grove because I grew up here and loved the small community environment. Our town revolved around our school because there is nothing else in our town. The community is very supportive. I have enjoyed the parades each year, the marching band, the director of the band, all of the sports I participated in growing up, and how safe the town is. Small towns are great to grow up in because you get to know students in kindergarten, and you are in class with many of those same kids every year, so you really get to feel like a family in Oak Grove. We are very close to Kansas City too, so really we have the best of both worlds. We can be safe in our community, but go to larger cities to shop and visit as well. I love our city wide yard sale events twice a year, and our huge firework show each year. Since it was 2020 and a crazy year for seniors, our city had a parade for seniors and the whole town came. We also were able to host an individual grad ceremony!

I have really enjoyed my time at Oak Grove R-VI School District. Living in a smaller town, it allows for certain challenges, but it also allows for amazing opportunities. I was able to play multiple sports will being actively involved in choir and theatre. Our school district doesn't have a lot of funding, so it causes for some challenges. It's very evident in our arts, the lack of funding causes for us not to have the same opportunities as other school districts around us. The teachers at all of the schools are very invested in all of our students lives. They will put forth all of the effort possible in order to help their students have the best chance at success. Although, there has not been very much moving forward as society itself is moving forward. Since Oak Grove is very small, there hasn't been as much progression as areas around us have seen. Overall, Oak Grove R-VI School District is an amazing place to go to school and I would recommend it to anyone.
I have found my experience at the Oak Grove R-VI School District to be a very informative experience with dedicated teachers and good educational and fine arts programs. I believe that the teachers are very dedicated to their want to teach upcoming students. And, the extraciricular activities such as band and choir are very enjoyable and inclusive. Now, I believe that our safety should be improved upon because it is very easy for any person who wishes harm to enter the school. I asked a teacher to tell me what the school could improve on, and they told me, " I wish that money would be distributed more evenly to other branches of the school, instead of the sports program. And I'm saying this because were using books from as far back as 15 years instead of more recent resources." Even with the changes that should be made, I have found my time here enjoyable.
