Northwest independent school district does a good job making sure its students have a safe, inclusive learning environment. There is constantly growth in the district with new facilities. As students get to highschool they have a unique opportunity to study different career paths which usually would not be offered at a typical highschool. These include academies such as the bio-medical, culinary and hospitialy, STEM, media production, aviation, buisiness, and collegiate (which allows students to graduate highschool with an associates degree). Overall this is an amazing school district with incredible opportunities, inclusion, and funding. Safety and diversity are also large parts of the district. Each school can personalize their own clubs and many include cultural apreciation clubs, academic based groups, and fine arts related activities. Though our sports are not ranked the best, each team is more than hard working and determined, just like the rest of the staff and students.
Northwest ISD is a really great school! What I love most about it is the diversity of the different ages and races of all the staff and students there. It helps every have insight and make connections and learn about different cultures of the world and though we are diverse, we feel more connected.
As an alumni of the Northwest Independent School District, the time I spent while in high school was overall a pleasant experience. I met a lot of great people - some of which I still remain friends with, and made a lot of memorable experiences. Personally, my teachers were kind, understanding, and knowlegable. However, a critique on the district is their poor when dealing with controversial issues. When dealt with an issue of racism, supposed innopropraite conduct between a student and faculty, and sinister behavior presented by a student, no statements or apologies were ever said. Although the district handled the situations promptly and professionally, a statement by the district would've better kept parents and students at ease.
