Our family moved here expecting great things based on high "ratings" and motto of "Excellence". Like many we were quickly disappointed. The high school is large and the students that seem to excel here is more due the parents that pay for additional training, classes and support needed over the years– not because of the school district. It is very competitive among certain groups. There are some teachers that are great with their students, but not enough. The high school is large and there is not ample support for many of the students. The district seems to fight against families than provide simple supports. The BOE did not have a plan to bring the older kids BTS during the pandemic when other districts managed to. NPS has no excuse not to provide the “excellence” they claim to all students. They have millions in additional mileages yet they do not seem to offer excellence on many levels. Lesser districts are doing more for their students with less funding!
Great district with a lot of great teachers and staff! I have loved being a part of the high school at Northville. I have found so many great students in my classes, the teachers are all very flexible and willing to help, and the administrators are very kind and always welcome everyone with a big smile. With going virtual in 2020, the whole school has really stepped up and provided many accommodations for students, as well as many resources for mental health, college preparation, and overall course rigor assistance. I have loved my time at Northville schools, and would highly recommend to anyone.
Excellent district, dedicated teachers and community, commitment to excellence and increasing focus on student mental health, and great sports and extracurricular programs. I have kids at the elementary, middle and high school levels and all have had positive experiences, even through Covid, which the district managed through beautifully.
