Well after moving from California to Bothell, WA in my 9th grade of high school, it was definitely hard for me. I felt out of place with my peers and it was extremely hard to make friends in this environment. I was able to go straight into an alternative high school after junior high and it was the best decision i've made in my life up to this day. I'm lucky to have teachers that really pay attention to me and my work. They are genuinely interested in helping me to graduate and succeed. After 3 years at my alternative high school and beginning my senior year, I moved into a program at my school called Contract. Talk about a life-saver. This program allows me to work on work at home and talk with a counselor once a work to receive credit. I can't thank Northshore enough for involving children in different facets of education that work for them. Thank you, Northshore!
Review Northshore School District
I have been studying in the Northshore School District since kindergarten and am fairly satisfied with the education I have been provided with. At the elementary level, lessons focused on building a solid foundation in core subjects such as math and reading. Teachers seemed to know each student's academic level and were able to build interpersonal relationships to help each student grow. One thing I would like to see change how the district prepares students for standardized test such as the SAT or ACT. Although English and math classes are required each year, little is done to familiarize students with these types of tests. Overall, my experience with the Northshore School District has been very satisfying.
Increased communication between students, parents, and faculty especially related to academic performance and attempt to cover for missed school days due to competitive sports. In addition, I would like to see a broader selection of electives especially going into my senior year. Lastly, I wish the school/district used a more dynamic and cohesive online communication system that would allow student and parents to be more informed on grades, assignments, and general academic performance.
