Well after moving from California to Bothell, WA in my 9th grade of high school, it was definitely hard for me. I felt out of place with my peers and it was extremely hard to make friends in this environment. I was able to go straight into an alternative high school after junior high and it was the best decision i've made in my life up to this day. I'm lucky to have teachers that really pay attention to me and my work. They are genuinely interested in helping me to graduate and succeed. After 3 years at my alternative high school and beginning my senior year, I moved into a program at my school called Contract. Talk about a life-saver. This program allows me to work on work at home and talk with a counselor once a work to receive credit. I can't thank Northshore enough for involving children in different facets of education that work for them. Thank you, Northshore!

I have been studying in the Northshore School District since kindergarten and am fairly satisfied with the education I have been provided with. At the elementary level, lessons focused on building a solid foundation in core subjects such as math and reading. Teachers seemed to know each student's academic level and were able to build interpersonal relationships to help each student grow. One thing I would like to see change how the district prepares students for standardized test such as the SAT or ACT. Although English and math classes are required each year, little is done to familiarize students with these types of tests. Overall, my experience with the Northshore School District has been very satisfying.
Northshore is a great school district, but the "feel" of "vibe" really depends on the school you attend. Bothell High School, for example, is more your stereotypical high school. It has a social hierarchy, the "cool kids" the "nerds" etc. Bothell High School offers the running start program which allows students to attend a college of their choice and get college credits. As far as college preparedness it is slightly lower than IB. Inglemoor is the school with IB. It is a very two faced school, so to speak. The IB kids have what has been dubbed as the "IB bubble" - basically meaning that the students in IB are almost all completely oblivious to the kids who do not do IB. There is a lot of peer pressure to do IB at Inglemoor, mostly because that is what the school is known for. The new high school of our district has no real reputation yet, they just opened this year (2017).
