I have been enrolled in the Northridge local school district for my whole education journey. There have definitely been some up and downs along the way. Elementary through middle school the education was as far as I could tell very good. When I go to high school things changed a lot. Our history and English teacher are amazing but every other subject is a little rocky. Along with that, there is a lack of school spirit. Everybody comes to school because they have too and no one really takes pride in going to Northridge. The school is pretty divided as well. There is a lack of diversity and seems like no two groups really get along. I find this very strange because we have all grown up together and our school is relatively small. Our highschool literally has about two hallways that it. Although there are definitely issues like any school, Northridge has differently taught me a lot of lessons and shaped me into the person I am today.
Northridge Local School District is located in a rural community, where everybody knows one another. They stress school spirit and community involvement. I had a very average experience during my time here. As much as they insist that you go to college, they have very little time invested in preparation for college. The thing that stood out to me the most is when I participated in a student-teaching experience through my previous college. The teachers were careless, gossiping about their students. It was stunning to me, as I thought the teachers that taught me through the years cared for me and my fellow classmates. I was especially disappointed when I had attended a teacher work day, and the school hired trainers for bleeding control and self defense for violent scenarios. It was as if I was still in high school; teachers were joking around, not paying attention, and not taking the lessons seriously. These tactics are what could save a person's life, especially their students.
I have went to Northridge since I was 12 and I enjoyed every teacher I had. All the classes I took were explained to me very well and I always had help from my teachers and any of the administrative staff. Going to Northridge opened my eyes to so many opportunities and was an excellent pick for me because it isn't just a school. You feel like you fit in here and everyone is always so willing to help you out and show you around to make your high school experience easier but at the same time you still manage to get that fun in there. I would highly suggest anyone to send their kids here, it is a phenomenal school and I hope someday I can send my kids here.
