Being a senior student, there has been many dips and rises that have occurred. Our school has recovered well from the challenges we’ve face such as Covid, blizzards, cyber attacks, etc. Despite all these situations, excluding the social controversy and unbalanced diversity mainly between teachers, I have had a great experience as most of the students I have connected with have been kind and welcoming. Being a goalkeeper for the north muskegon soccer team had also positively impacted me physically and mentally despite our hard schedules of playing teams above our level. I feel welcomed where I go to school and can say I am proud to be a Norsemen.
I love North Muskegon Public Schools. It is like my second home. I have attended this school since I was 5 years old and am currently 16. The staff, students, and cosy classrooms make you feel right at home. In addition, this school has some of the best school spirit I have ever seen. Go Norse!
My experience was not the best. I've had issues with other students and when addressing it to the faculty there, nobody did anything. We also had a number of teachers at the school that acted inappropriately towards specific students, all of who were teenage girls. If you were not rich, popular, or part of the school board, you were treated as an outcast. The kids who did nothing wrong got disciplined and the kids who were the trouble-makers never got disciplined. Each grade only had one student of color out of 100 students to show that there was diversity, even though there was none.
