North Mahaska Community School District Reviews
Great school, great teachers, and great community! The teachers do a great job of helping you actually understand the material and they truly care about you as an individual.
North Mahaska is lacking in academics. Math being the major course. They do not have a trigonometry or calculus class and by the time you start learning algebra you are a freshman in high school. If you want to pursue college credits you can do a select few through different schools. The other big issue is boys athletics. It is absolutely terrible and has been for a few years now. They hide this from the public and if a problem occurs with a player they "slide it under the rug" meaning they know they messed up but instead of solving the issue they hide it and play dumb in hopes that the drama goes away. The Athletic Director makes poor decisions that affect the outcome of the school. He does not compromise with his coaches to do what is best for the kids and the program moving forward. Mentioning coaches you should be aware that the coaches act worse than the children at times. They have temper tantrums and use inappropriate language around the kids ex. calling them a female dog.
