I have been going to Newton High School for three years now, and it’s pretty good. The staff and teachers are helpful for the most part, and there are tons of clubs and after school activities you can get involved in. I myself am in several clubs, such as baking club, book club, marching band, and lots more. The diversity of the school adds to unique experience you get here. The administration could do better, however, by listening more to the opinions of the students. Our German program was recently cut to the dismay of many students. Arts and Language departments are always the first to be cut and receive budget cuts whenever the school is in a financial situation. I don’t agree with that at all, as arts are just as important than math and science, but overall my experience here has been pretty good. The students are great and I’ve made friends that I love.

Some things I liked about my school district was their ability to help those who needed it. When I first arrived in 4th grade, I was terrible at math, however, Newton Public Schools helped me out. They put me into smaller based group activities so I could have a 1 on 1 learning experience with my teachers. When I got to highschool they put me into the academic support program which has helped me immensely. Not only did I gain confidence in asking teachers for extra help, but I also learned to trust myself and my learning process.
I liked the teachers and diversity. I enjoyed the school buildings and the safe environment. For improvement I would like to see the head administration do more.
