From personal experience while attending, New Caney Independent School District, I have noticed that the teachers are great! From all the years I have been attending schools in this district, there has never been any safety concerns. The environment of the schools are kept clean and tidy. Although the teachers are great, the supplies the school is able to supply us with is minimal. At times teachers would not be able to execute their teaching lessons a certain way because of the lack of tools we had available. Personally, the food is the worst thing I have experienced.

New Caney Independent School District is overall a productive school that is increasingly growing as a whole. Through new advancements of technology in the classroom to the playoff bound sports teams this district has shown so much improvement to the lives of their students. NCISD has a variety of clubs and activity that each student could find something they enjoy, establishing a creative environment. The downfall to the district is the teacher v student relationship, in few cases teachers could care less about the well being of a student simply because they are irrelevant ; leading to below average academics in some student. Despite its downfalls, which every district has, NCISD provides opportunity in all aspects of the school.
I almost gave 2 stars. My daughter attends elementary school in the district & has so far been blessed with good teachers; HOWEVER, the district has implemented Common Core (with a different name). I despise the way my 1st grader "learns" math. It's counter-intuitive & works against the foundation to common-sense learning. I can't stress enough how disappointed I am that they've implemented this. Additionally K-5 students are sent home w/ homework everyday. In elementary this is unnecessary (esp. since studies show that hmwk does not improve the academic success of students & doesn't have any meaningful benefit until highschool). At the end of the day, there are some good teachers. Overall, the district needs to adjust what they put emphasis on & it should NOT be state testing (as has been the case). Focusing more on "teaching to the test" vs teaching students to learn has done them a disservice. Improvement needed for me to love the district.
