Naperville North is great when it comes to academics and college preparation, but when it comes to mental support and overall student wellness it falls short. Sure you can keep telling students to go see their counselors, but 90% of students go to see their counselors for schedule changes and nothing else. How am I supposed to confide in how stressed or depressed I am to some random adult. North has had five suicides in four years, that is unacceptable. The amount of pressure that is put on students to get only A's and not only go to college but ivy league college is way too much. Not every teacher is like this, but most are and the overall atmosphere is all about succeeding and taking the most AP classes possible. It should be about learning and gaining skills needed in college and the job world where grades don't define who you are.

I have always really liked school and I believe that is because I am able to be myself. In my many years of school, I have always felt to supported and loved by my teachers and classmates. I still email my teachers from when I was in first and second grade. It is so clear that they care about their students and simply want what is best for them. The people love you for who you are and it makes the learning environment so much more impactful.
In this school district we have so many resources available to us; Chromebooks, libraries, tech help and many databases. The majority of teachers at my high school are also high quality and the academics are quite challenging and csn be rewarding as well. This district really prepares you for college.
