I enjoy the environment and the students. The teachers are very supportive and the staff members are very helpful. Sports are well supported, and educatational opportunities are available for college prep classes and pathways. Parents are welcome to be involved and the student population is encouraged to be active in sports and extra curriculars. Foreign languages are offered, and school trips are available annually. The campus and atmosphere feel safe and clean. Although I no longer take classes on main campus, I am still actively involved athletically and feel as though all of my coaches have done everything in their power to support me .
The School itself is decent. There isn’t much care toward the students from the staff it seems. Some teachers such as Mrs. Keaton are terrific, but others not so much. The Knox County Career Center is a much better option for students within this district. It provides terrific learning experience and offers the most amazing staff. Wouldn’t say it’s a bad school just not ideal.
Our school district faces a lot of problems currently. The biggest thing is that we do not have enough teachers that care. I have seen so many teachers with my own eyes just give up on their students. I've heard "this wasn't what I was supposed to do with my life" more times than I can count. Because of so many staff members giving up, it causes the students to give up as well. There are so many students that have amazing potential but they don't apply themselves because they don't see the point. So many of our students are depressed and hate even stepping foot into our schools. That is not okay and there should be more done to protect and preserve our student's minds. I have been taught from the beginning that unless I am in a sport, no one will care about me. Education is less valued than athletics which really puts the wrong message out there to our students. There's some people that care, but not enough and that really needs to change.
