I have had an overall good experience at Montville Township High School. I have had the opportunity to take classes that challenge and push me. I am also involved in several extra curricular activities, such as the literary magazine, chamber orchestra, speech and debate team, etc. I have enjoyed these extra curriculars but it requires good planning to balance these activities. Perhaps something that made my ranking slightly lower is my experience during covid. Social activities were not present during this time for obvious reasons, but somehow teachers became stricter and gave more assignments and tests during this difficult time. However, I do appreciate the variety of classes offered at the high school and the quality of education we are receiving. I have gotten the opportunity to explore different areas of interests and figure out what I may want to pursue one day past high school. My AP classes are also making me feel prepared for college.
Overall, it's a very good school, one of the better schools in NJ which is already the best state for schools. The main issue is that a few select teachers can give incredibly demanding schoolwork or are bad at teaching a subject themselves. For students that end up taking honors or AP level classes, the student culture can become competitive to the point where it can only be described as toxic. It does offer a large variety of clubs and activities and has a good variety of sports teams despite it's small size.
The Montville Schools offer a lot in terms of accommodations as well as advanced academics. Great variety of high level and AP classes at the high school as well as excellent case managers for those with an IEP. The school system works well for those who need extra help and for those who need the most challenging courses. The school also has excellent music, sports, theater, and arts programs. Lots of clubs too.
