I went to a MCCSC school about two years ago. I LOVED this school – from the teachers to the students to the challenging curriculum. Monroe County Schools integrate compassion into their teaching standards, emphasizes the importance of values, and builds leaders through each of their classes and lessons.
Though it is a small area, it allows for a lower student to teacher ratio, giving children more confidence when asking questions, engage in group activities, and opportunities for one-on-one time with the teachers.
Teachers are passionate about seeing their students succeed. They are so great about sharing moments of pride they see within your child – their good behaviors and achievements; and they know the importance of getting the parents involved should an issue arise, and do it in a very respectful, approachable manner. The students even felt the love and acted accordingly, being friendly to almost everyone. There way rarely any bullying and I always had a friend to confide.

I moved to Indiana MCCSC and started 8th grade in 2019. I had been homeschooled for the previous 3 years, which I didn't enjoy, so I was very excited to begin public school. It was new again to me, and I had so many thoughts on what middle school would be like. While it certainly wasn't like the movies, I still really enjoyed being at school each day. My school offered unique courses; such as a creative writing class I took. I got to make a podcast, write stories, write out interview questions. That one class for example, prompted new interests I carry with me today, which the middle schools in the town over didn't have that creative writing class. Moving onto sophomore year of high school, I took my first college class, business & marketing fundamentals through Ivy Tech. I was happy to have the ability to take this advanced class, and appreciated the exposure I had to a college-level curriculum. In conclusion, those two classes are two examples I am thankful MCCSC offered to me.
MCCSC is a wonderful school district. Overall, we have amazing teachers who care about their students' academic growth, and a wide variety of opportunities. I would like to see some more diversity in my school, and some more inclusivity when it comes to areas like religion and healthcare education. But considering the political identity of Indiana as a whole, our administrations are relatively open-minded. My classes are taught well, by teachers who enjoy their careers, especially in a time such as this when many students are entirely online. All of my instructors have been remarkably understanding considering the frustrating technological issues. In general, everyone in our academic community has been very supportive and patient with one another, which is exactly what I would have expected from our school system.
