I like that Monahans High School is involved with the community. The town supports the school so much. One thing I would like to see change is some effort from some teachers. Monahans High School can be unorganized at times but they manage with what they have. Our school is not the wealthiest but they get done what is expected of them. I feel like there is always room for college readiness. The councillors try to prepare us but they cannot work with everybody, they need more help. it would be nice for there to be a class on how to apply for college. The things we learn are mainly for a grade and not really to carry with us for the rest of our lives.
My experience at Monahans Wickett Pyote independent school district was brief but good. All of my teachers worked hard so every student had a chance to pass. The arts were especially an important part of my time there. Band, Choir and Theater are all great programs I had the pleasure of being involved with.
I liked the dual credit classes and sports. I don’t care for the discipline. It’s not strict enough. My parents work there.
Monahans High School is a great small town school. The counselors and teachers work very hard to prepare our children for the future. As with all schools there are some minor snags but nothing major. Great little hometown community school where everyone knows everyone and everyone helps eachother.
Being a small district the teachers are better of with helping students one on one so that they can be better prepared for college. As for athletics, they are well rounded in every sport.
