The tagline here is "small school, big family". At times, I see that quote shine within our school. With only 71 students in my grade, it's easy to connect with teachers and peers on a personal level. Everyone knows everyone. No one feels like a nobody. At times, this is an amazing thing. My leadership abilities can shine. My teacher recommendations are personalized. My parking spot is mine and only mine. At other times, "small school, big family" is heart wrenching. The diversity here is completely nonexistent. Nearly everyone here is white and cliquey. Moreover, the small school has not provided as many opportunities and classes that I've seen provided at bigger high schools.
Millis highschool is a great school for average kids, i know many people who have been highly successful from Millis. However, the reason for the low score is the districts special ed department. I beg you, NEVER move to millis if you have a special needs child! If a kid cannot handle regular classes, they will just ship them out to private program, instead of trying aides, resource room, homework reduction, or anything. A friend of mines child with high-functioning autism was sent to a private school for low-functioning autistic's. From an average person, i could see them getting the two conditions mixed. But from a special ed department? Those are the people who run Millis's sped department.
If you move to millis with a special ed child, you're asking for a rough 12 years.

I have really enjoyed my time at Millis Public Schools. The staff and students are so welcoming and kind-hearted, and the community really gets involved in every event. I have met some amazing people here, and some lifelong mentors and friends as well. I couldn't have asked for a better experience!
