I’m a parent, both my kids went to Millbrook and graduated. They both did excellent academically,it cane easy for my daughter and my son put in extreme effort. My son played in a sport all 4 high school years. In the fall, winter and spring. They both still have very close friends from Millbrook. We moved to the district when they were 9 & 12. We only moved 15 miles north and they were previously at a very large school district. They both thrived at Millbrook and were happy there. They both are college graduates and are very successful. They both say that the friends they still have and the smaller school district was most important to them looking back. It’s been 8 & 11 years since they graduated. I as their Mom loved Millbrook. I knew all their friends and their parents which was great so I always knew where they were and who they were with. The kids were academically competitive and all hard workers, and graduating classes of 92 & 86 was perfect!
Millbrook definitely isn't a terrible school. The teacher's try their best to help the students. The classes are small because of the small population. The academics are alright. It is a struggle to get appropriate work for students that are advanced. Each class is tailored to the slowest learner, which is alright if there are more advanced classes, but there aren't any. There are limited AP classes and the IB classes are normal classes with a fancy title. The administration struggles to provide beneficial help for students. There is a limited way of students reaching out and voicing their complaints. The teacher's can't rely on the administration to discipline students. The clubs are okay. There is a small selection. There aren't many and there is limited funding for them. The teachers who manage one struggle to find time for the club and to plan activities.
Millbrook was a great school. Though I wish the school was larger. the faculty was great, but the board wasn’t. they continued yesr after year taking stuff from us. they took phones away, the amount of time given during the pep rally, and have become more strict. though our girls sports are great. not as much for the boys but the girls have continued to excel.
