Miamisburg high school has its highs and lows. Starting off with highs, they have a good staff, and a lot of sports to take part in. Lows consist of the inconsistent teacher concern towards grades, the pressure put on students in the building, the atmosphere, some course designs, overall a school of miscommunication and fixable problems. Miamisburg could be doing much better things, having a school garden to grow food for school lunches; better lunch times because no one wants lunch at 10:30 in the morning. A less overwhelming class schedule. More friendliness and less toxicity. A welcoming school building where ones opinions aren't pushed onto another. This sums up my experience. I went to Miamisburg high school from August 2021- October 2021, then became homeschooled because of the pressures, tears, harsh academics, etc. I had a bad experience at Miamisburg high school, am now going into my junior year taking one class in person, the rest CCP. Miamisburg is tough and needs more love.
The worst experiences would be some of the teachers. Specifically, in the band area. A lot of time they come sarcastic and rude and can make unnecessary comments. Not only do I think this, others do too. I have been loyal to our Marching band, yet when i’m sick or need to rest. They will yell and not be understanding or have any sympathy. However, all the other teachers are very respectful, and can teach well. They are always willing to help a student out and make sure they have good grades. They offer a large variety of clubs and try to fit everyone’s needs into activities.
Sports- too much money spent out of pocket when all money in the system is put into the band and football. No help to low income families. Disorganized practices and games for parents. Poor coaching. Politic based!
Teachers- too personal with students! Ex. Have personal phone numbers, know there personal problems. Teachers lack being role models! Not pro active with bullying!
Administration- doesn’t enforce issues known. Ignores kids struggling with issues.
On call system- great!
Cafeteria- not healthy! My dog wouldn’t even touch that food! Serve a burrito, rice and cheese sauce and that’s it! Gross
Classes- need more life preparing classes such as financial, home economics, parenting, wood shop!
Bring back career day!
Have more diversified programs like work program for example.
