Metropolitan School District of Steuben County Reviews
I believe I am lucky to attend high school in this school district because, for the most part, they provide me with what I need for success. Most of my complaints are stereotypical complaints you would hear from any other teenager, such as the absence policy and the school's (seemingly) obsession with control and regulation. I believe high schools should set their students up for success and attempt the highest success rate possible, towards which I would comment that they struggle with. I have unfortunately witnessed much favoritism in my school, and a popular statement to hear is that the staff doesn't care much about you if you're not in a sport. I would argue that even though these are things only students notice and might be petty components to criticize, the students are the ones that have to endure the conditions among other struggles, and are the ones that should be heard.
The Metropolitan School District of Steuben County is a great place to go to school for the first 2-3 years of high school but when I hit my senior year, I realized the counselors are absolutely horrible. They have no idea what they're doing. My counselor specifically is just looking to get students in and out of her office as fast as possible. They also don't communicate with students what so ever, so you're basically in the dark when you need to be figuring everything about college out.
MSD of Steuben County is a great school district that includes five schools. There are 3 elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school. Being a Junior in high school, I have experience in each setting and each place had a very good learning environment. In elementary school the teachers were very nice and they were easy to learn from. In middle school it was a fun atmosphere and the teachers pushed us to be the best we could all be. In high school, the teachers could be more helpful and understanding, but if you get your work done then there is nothing to worry about. What I want to see changed is the way teachers interact with their students in the high school settings. There are a couple teachers who are very mean and they hate kids, so they need to be fired.
