I like how McAllen ISD wants to make sure that their students succeed by giving them the opportunity to have an advantage over other school districts by overing services that are typically not offered by most districts. I would love to see the district resolve some issues at the high school home campuses. The IB/Options program is excellent as it allows for students to have an alternative to the normal AP courses at home campuses. The teachers are phenomenal and I couldn't be happier with their dedication and service. I believe that the weakest area of the school district is the nutritional services. The cafeteria food isn't quality food, but the cafeteria women and men are wonderful. The staff, both faculty and administration, are supportive and helpful. I could not be more pleased with the school district and have so far, and will continue to be, prepared for the future.

This school district achieved the rare Post-Secondary Distinction, which means they achieve high graduation rates, SAT and ACT scores, state scores, etc. Maybe part of the reason is the unusual array of mentally stimulating choices they offer - chess, robotics, coding, UIL Academic competition, music - at all grade levels, elementary through high school!
McAllen School District has been improving in every way as technology and diversity and culture. The teachers and staff are friendly and kind always willing to help students in need and encouraging those who need it. Teacher in this district are always responsible and learning to teach students to do better in the future encouraging them with school and work. They prepare students not only for school but for jobs and college. There is a lot of diversity when it comes to studies too and the classes and extracurricular activities, they are fun and healthy. The safety is at its best and couldn't improve more as it is perfect, students feel safe at all times. The culture in schools is strong and healthy all parent are also invited and allowed to participate in any kind of activity.
