McAllen ISD is full of educational opportunities that help foster student growth. Many teachers in the district care about their students and their learning, aiding them to find success independently. Academically, McAllen schools have the resources to ensure success. Sports and extracurriculars also thrive, though music and STEM programs should be far more endorsed and encourage than just sports alone. Making education a priority to all students helps make our futures brighter!

I've been a student within Mcallen ISD and have found it to be an extremely lackluster district with little genuine care for education or readiness. Their lack of care for any of the fine arts departments has been infuriating coming from a fine arts students and constant budget cuts have been the bane of any and all departments. My only reason for such a high rating for such a mediocre poorly run district is due to the schools I would attend being good, at best, however these schools are beginning to decline and better schools are opening in the surrounding cities. The district itself is poorly run and could do for an overhaul in the administration.
I attend the IB Program at Lamar Academy, but I am ranked with my homeschool which is Nikki Rowe High School, and my homeschool is where I play sports with. The IB Program is rigorous and quite stressful but the teachers make the atmosphere more tolerable and our IB Coordinator reassures us of how "worth it" the experience is. At my homeschool , Nikki Rowe, I participate in diving, and my coach is one of the best diving coaches in the region and he does his absolute best in order to prepare us for competitions. These are some of the aspects that I primarily associate with my school district, my academics and my extracurricular, both of which have great atmospheres.
