My experience at Marietta High school was excellent in terms of academics and extracurricular opportunities. The IB program at this school provides a rigorous curriculum for students who plan to pursue undergraduate and/or doctoral degrees. Students who display the qualities of Marietta High School P.R.I.D.E. (Prepared, Respectful, Intentional, Diligent, and Engaged) are most definitely prepared for college and life after high school. In fact, several students from our school have matriculated into Yale University, GeorgiaTech, Duke University, MIT, and other prestigious institutions. Marietta High School's "Student Success Center" offers to tutor in core classes, advisory in college applications, scholarship opportunities, help on essays, printing, and much more. The teachers are extremely passionate about their students and invest a lot of time and effort into making sure students receive a high-quality education and develop essential skills that will benefit them later in life.

My school is extremely divided, which is expected; however, it's almost uncomfortably divided. First off, students divide by race, socioeconomic status and academic ability. And the teachers and administrators encourage this. I absolutely hate it! Is this a reflection of the real world? I do enjoy the fact that teachers challenge their students and we are provided with an excellent education, especially in the IB program.
I have attended Marietta City Schools since 2011 and to my knowledge, teachers in this district help their students without discrimination and follow the criteria effectively. Clubs and activities throughout the district are very active and play a big part within the community itself with an outstanding amount of parent involvement, evident from elementary school to senior year in high school. Sports play a big part as the school district indiscriminately promote all sports in all divisions and grades. Our schools are very diverse with no evident lean or bias to one specific race. Students are prepared for college whether taking IB, Advanced Placement, College Prep, or Dual Enrollment college courses with College level math being offered on campus. Safety is a big priority with the presence of student resource officers, with one personally teaching a class on criminal justice. This is reassured with constantly renewed active shooter drills.
