My experience at Maple River was very good. The reason why I enjoyed it so much was because my family has been going to this school when they were kids. I love the size and the location of this school also. It's a small school with great, friendly, loving teachers. Even though the school district is located in a small town, there is plenty to do because Mankato, Minnesota is just 20 miles north. The reason why I only gave it 4 stars was because it is an older school that is in despite need of a new school. Hopefully in the near future the voters will finally vote yes.
Maple River is a smaller district with a strong base in the community. At this school you feel very much like an individual instead of part of a group. You get to know all of your classmates and most of the staff. Teachers are always willing to work with you and have very flexible hours so that students with jobs or involved in extracurricular activities are still able to get the same amount of support and help as those who are not as involved. The one downside to our school is that the buildings are very old and need updating or a new building. We have tried to pass a referendum once for a new school and were not successful. However the district is trying again this year and hopefully it will pass. If the referendum does pass the district will transition from 3 buildings, 2 elementary and one high school/middle school, into one centralized building.
The teachers really care about their students! Plenty of college classes and fun electives are offered!
