If your son/daughter is an “average” student scholastically, Maine South is not a great option. The teachers and administration focus on high and low achievement students and they don’t care about the rest. We’ve put 3 boys through this school and they all had the same experience. Playing sports (and the facilities) has also been a poor experience.! The baseball program and varsity coaching is horrendous. The varsity coach cuts kids during tryouts in front of the whole team and he also “fat shamed” a really good player back in 2018. The boys volleyball program and coaching was also a poor experience. I have to say that the football program and coaching staff is terrific! If I had to do it over again, I would have moved to the Glenview area and had my kids attend GBS or GBN HS. Their facilities are up to date and their education program is much better.
I would just like to see teachers caring more about a student and pushing them a motivating them so they can reach their goals and dreams in life. Encourage and motivate the students, fuel their drives and tell them "you can do anything that you set your mind to do! The SKY is the limit." I feel like many students and kids feel the lack of motivation from their parents, teachers, and peers. It would feel good to once in a while hear positive things such as those. But, I choose to be different although not many people can compliment me or do many things for me to help me feel more confident I have my own motivation. To strive for greatness and to do things that nobody in my family has done. That's my motivation, to not conform myself in what everybody conforms themself and would rather be normal in society's eyes. But not me, no. I choose to be better and different from most people. Congratulations to those that choose to be different and those that are pushing everyday.
I attended Maine East High School which is a school in the 207 district. I am on the verge to graduate and move on to a college very shortly. My time at Maine East was quite excellent because the teachers really cared about the students education and their well being. Whenever I needed help with homework/an assignment, the teachers were always there to assist me. The teachers definitely led to my success throughout high school earning honor roll every year and being eligible to join the National Honor Society. Maine East has an EXCELLENT education system, probably the best in the whole district no doubt about it. If you attend this school and are truly dedicated, then you will succeed. One thing I feel like Maine East can improve on is definitely remodeling the whole school because it looks so old compared to the other schools in the district. Other than that, Maine East is a school to be at!
