After my child attended a small private school north of Madison, we enrolled him in Madison County Schools. It was the best thing we ever did! His ACT score went up, his confidence went up and now he is prepared for college. The only reason many boys transfer to small private schools is because to play sports. How will that help them in life? It is more important to get that ACT score up! We feel like our son will succeed in college because of his preparation at MC. It was hard but so is life. Do not bother with small private schools!
Review Madison County School District
I attended schools in the madison county school district since first grade up until i graduated in 2016. they are constantly growing, adding new schools and new teachers. its a very family oriented place that you always feel safe in. the faculty make sure we are held to a high standard in our academics and make sure we achieve that standard, but not while lacking in fun! the sports are very competitive and coaches push students to work hard on the field or court and even harder in the classroom. all campuses are nice and kept clean. the staff always goes above and beyond when a student needs help, even if it doesn't pertain to school at all. the sheriffs deputies patrolling the hallways and parking lots allow for a safe environment for everyone.
Several courses such as English taught by Jamie Dickson and advanced placement courses for chemistry, U.S. History, and World History were very informative, interesting, and challenging. I think the drivers' education program needs drastic improvement as students rarely get driving experience more than two or three times in the one semester that they take the class. This is not a good way to set students up to be safe and capable drivers. The school cafeterias always served balanced meals that were satisfying and tasty.
