Lufkin High School is a great school for students to attend. They have many great programs: band, football, baseball, tennis, Ignite, S.T.E.M., and much much more. In my time at LHS, I have taken advantage of all the awesome things available at LHS. I am in the S.T.E.M. program and Ignite. I have marched in the Lufkin Band since 6th grade. Lufkin High School does have it's disadvantages. Just about every week there's at least one fight. With that being said, the administration handle it very well. Lufkin is very diverse which is great for teenagers to be around as they are getting older and will one day be in a very diverse world.

LHS provides students with a variety of ways to indulge in additional training for their future careers. However, there has been lows. My GPA went down due to the seventy that I maintained in Physics. Now, I'm not insinuating that the class should be omitted because I was unsuccessful in it. I believe that it should not be a core class. An alternative should be given. Usually, I can comprehend, but I became quite upset with this class due to the fact that I was confused about most of what we learned. Aside from not making Physics, the dress code policy is unfair. Girls cannot wear shorts; however, boys or athletes are allowed to wear shorts that you'd wear to exercise or workout. Then, if you do get stopped for dress code which they will claim is a distraction. You have to sit in the office of your grade to wait for either your parents to bring you clothes, be allowed to leave the campus, or sent to ISS till the situation is situated. Students are missing class.
My experience here at Lufkin High School has been both an excellent educational and cultural experience. I have went to school in the north and the south and I have been to a variety of school districts. I like that the school has incredible academic programs. Students here really succeed both educationally and as individuals. The staff and principles take their job seriously and set out to accomplish that all students have everything they need to have a bright and successful future. Not only do we have great academic achievement bur we also compete in a variety of sports including football, baseball, basketball and swim! We have won state championships and competed at a variety of different events. We are very involved in the community as well, such as volunteering at our local food bank and animal hospitals. Lufkin High School is a fantastic school district and as we say "It's a great day to be a Lufkin Panther!".
