The school is great, besides the gap between normal classes and AP classes. Advanced classes rely on knowledge from the previous year’s advanced class in that subject. This limits students’ ability improve as they often can only choose between college prep and AP, with no honors that they can use as a stepping stone for improvement. I’ve seen and experienced this in both English and History courses, and have seen others rejected for more advanced math (that they are willing to put extra effort in).
Additionally, the difference in student population is crazy. Disclaimer: the following is just a stereotype, there are exceptions. All of the well-behaved, confident students are pushing themselves academically in the AP courses, while the awkward kids and the rowdy football kids are focused more on their social lives than their normal course. The shy kids in those courses don’t speak up for themselves when they are uncomfortable.

Overall, the education at LGHS is great. The teachers are well-knowledge in their fields and there's a wealth of electives and core classes to choose from. However, the school community leaves much to be desired. There's a lot of implicit racism and sexism ongoing— issues the school has taken steps to resolve but still has a long way to go in.
I am a senior at Los Gatos High School. I love my school. For the most part, teachers care about their students and work hard to help their students. The extracurricular actives and sports teams are amazing. This school has spirit, and there is a sense of pride to being a wildcat. Los Gatos is a very academically competitive school, and produces students who are well prepared for college. However, this school is also very socially competitive. The administration does a lot for their students, but there have been many issues with administration including the #metoo movement. Students often don't feel heard or supported by the administration in these difficult situations.
