Lots of higher level learning opportunities, extra curricular activities and help. The majority of the staff are amazing, very willing to help and concerned about their students wellbeing. They recently increased the building security, now not allowing anyone in the building without being signed in by staff prior to the visit, a nice improvement. I enjoyed my time at LBHS, a pretty good school spirit and super fun class olympics activities. Long Beach, NY is a very tight knit community and it shows in their schools.

My child is in fourth grade with the only teacher that does not display any student work. The entire building has student work displayed in front of their classroom except for this class. It’s really sad that the administration has allowed a teacher to control a building. It should be about student learning not about politics. The administration is scared to praise teachers who are hard working and allow the teacher who is being insubordinate to continue to control their school buildings.
It was cool growing up in Long Beach and I feel I had a great education there. A lot of times I was the only colored student in my class though. I didn't really have a problem with it, but I would understand if someone else in my position did. I had friends of all walks of life, of all races. In high school they could've improved the outside courts and sometimes the front stairs smelled funny. Other than that I didn't have any problems I enjoyed Long Beach's school district.
