Rating 4.39 out of 5 41 reviews
I have lived in Londonderry New Hampshire for nearly my entire life and have attended the town's public schools for most of my academic career. The only reason the district even gets 2 stars is due to the few good teachers left, other than those select few the entire district is practically begging for improvement. From elementary to high school, there are so many problems and issues preventing students from excelling in education as well as in their broader lives. The high school prioritizes sports over all else, ignoring the deterring building, underpaid staff, and suicidal students in the process. The school preaches about everything they do from a broader district wide level when in reality the school board is one of the many variables in the equation of the decaying state the town is currently in. Overall, the Londonderry's education system needs serious work with the current state it is in.
Londonderry High was a great academically challenging school with multiple opportunities for fun outside of the classroom. I participated in the 300 person marching band, choir program, and drama club. There isn't much I would change about my experience. I felt well prepared for college and earned a 4.0 this semester at Syracuse.
The district excellently supported my children as they made their way through the elementary, middle and high school. The teachers are strong in their subjects and have passion for teaching; they work hard to make the schools successful. The administration is hands on and involved with the students’ well being. The music program is outstanding and the diversity of sports and extra-curricular activities ensures there is something for everyone. There are outstanding special education programs in each of the schools which allow students to stay in their home town for education. The school board and superintendent work to keep the class sizes low, helping students get more individualized attention. There are after school academic programs to support those who need help. Students are encouraged to participate in their education and create the ideal environment for learning through student council and other opportunities to share their ideas.
