Linn-Mar is very inclusive of all sorts of students. There are lots of opportunities for people with many different hobbies. All of the sports programs are very well built up, and the music department is even better developed (considered the best in the state by some). Of course, it's nice to see Linn-Mar's architectural design continue to become better as the years go by and I wish there was more parent involvement with Linn-Mar's projects.
Linn-Mar is overall very culturing. With over 2,000 students in the building, you learn a lot of self advocating in classes as well as communication skills. However, I miss out on the school spirit and the homey community that small districts get to have.
I enjoyed my time at Linn-Mar High School because I was very involved with the activities they had to offer, in particular the cheerleading squad. I was involved in cheer all four years of my high school experience and I made memories that have stayed with me and my fellow squad members. The academics did well with preparing me for college and I am happy with the majority of the teachers I had and even made a relationship with a teacher that had an amazing impact on my life. On the other hand, I was disappointed in the lack of emphasis on the importance of Diversity and Inclusion. There were few or if any classes that taught to support the diversity in school, future workplaces or just in general. I am hoping as we enter a more progressive and evolving society this becomes implemented in different class settings and normalized throughout curriculum.
