Leonard has a wonderful environment! The students are safe and the staff is attentive. The downside to Leonard is that the academics could use improvement, and the opportunities are limited. Leonard is focused on college preparation, providing their high school students with free ACTs, SATs, PSATs, and PACTs starting in 8th grade. The students are welcoming at Leonard and there are no violence or bullying issues at Leonard.
It is very small but very open, the school is a kind of hit or miss on academics however because of its small stature you creat very close bonds with everyone you meet including the staff. Overall if I were to change anything I would tweak the way teachers engage with their students. There’s a few teachers that will go above and beyond for their students but there are some that treat it like a job their 9-5 job and aren’t really personal and work with the students and treat it like a college lecture which is the reason of the 3 stars
Leonard ISD is a school that I highly do not recommend for students. I attended Leonard schools for 13 years and each year the teachers got worse. The teachers spend most of their time on their cellphones rather than getting up and teaching. The teachers aboslutely do not care about the students education. I am curently a senior and my teachers do not even grade our homework. They simply give everyone a 95 without even looking at our homework. Leonard ISD is more focused on sports. They spend so much on sports. I think teachers who actually cared about teaching should be hired and not just hire anyone just because they seem like a good teacher. Teachers should be supervised without knowing once in a while so principals can actually see who they have as “teachers.” Parents should get more involved in this school district and ensure their students are receaving the education they need for the future. Overall, I do not recommend this school district.
